Hi I'm Gina

I'm a convert, proud mom of 7, founded charitable nonprofit that serves the state of Arizona AND...I'm Mormon.

About Me

I always loved God but struggled during some challenging teen & young adult years to know if God was real. My father was an atheist but my mom taught me to believe in God My father was an alcoholic and it has been the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has taught me the power of forgiveness. I am the proud mother of seven beautiful children including a son (now 28O who has Down syndrome. Little did I know what I thought the hardest thing God could do TO me has turned out to be the sweetest thing He has ever done FOR me. I love to write and one day will have my book published, I love all people and I especially love children. I confess children with Down syndrome hold a special place in my heart.

Why I am a Mormon

Not having grown up a member of the Mormon church, has given me a great apprecaition and understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. It means that I must try every single day to do the best I can at being honorable and honest with my fellowman, at being patient with my children and others, including myself. It means remembering who I am... a daughter of God. Something changed in me when I learned that. I am a Mormon because as simple as it sounds, I prayed about it and God truly spoke to my heart telling me it is true. I have been a member for 37 years ever since I was 23 years old. Everything the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches me is to try to live the kind of life as jesus would. He is my hero and I love him with all my heart. I thank God every single day for those sweet missionaries who came to my home those many years ago. I feel thankful to truly know who God is...he is not just a power for good...he is literally my Father in Heaven and I know he loves me. I know that Jesus is his son. I know that Jesus gave his life and atoned for my sins. I want to live the kind of life that would make him proud of me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by how I live my life. I love the quote that says, "Preach the Gospel at all time, when necessary, use words." I try to live the Golden Rule and do unto others as I would have them do unto me. Over 20 years ago I founded the charitable nonprofit, Sharing Down Syndrome Arizona with five families who met in my home. Today we serve over 2800! Check out the cutest babies in the whole world at wwwsharingds.org Our boastful bumper sticker says it all, "My Kid Has More Chromosomes Than Your Kid!" I know I have learned more about unconditional love from my son David (age 28 who has Down syndrome). I live my faith by remembering who I am...a daughter of God. I know he is counting on me to serve my fellow man and to make a difference in this world. It has been my membership that has made all the difference in my life. For me, knowing that God is real and that he loves me really helped me find the confidence to know I can make a difference in the lives of others.
