Hi I'm Taylor

I am a die-hard Seattle and college sports lover. I am also a Mormon!

About Me

I am a year removed from my undergrad at BYU, and I moved back to my home state of Washington with my sweet wife. I grew up there and knew I needed to find my way back to the PNW. I love love love BYU sports, but you can get me talking about pretty much any major sports news. I have recently discovered a love of Settlers of Catan, and although I am not that great, I will play any time. I love going to concerts and listening to music, anywhere from Operation Ivy and Less Than Jake to Owl City and Rocket Summer. I am a self professed geek and am always lusting after the latest gadgets, although I am too cheap (luckily) to buy most of them. I am learning to wake board and started jumping off the wake this summer, and my goal next summer is to clear it.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is easy to do when you are surrounded by the culture when you are young. But as you get older there are more and more opportunities to make decisions according to what is “the norm” or what everyone else is doing. Sometimes those standards are morally ambiguous or confusing. When I was in high school I was confronted with those decisions often, and every time I took a stand for what I have been taught though the Gospel, I have felt clarity and support. I have since learned that is the Spirit testifying of truth. I know we can access that truth by living what Christ taught, and we can not only have a guiding light in a confused world, but we can BE that light, and help others feel that peace.

How I live my faith

Currently I help the full-time missionaries (the ones with the name-tags) with anything they are in need of. My wife and I have them over for dinner, I accompany them on visits with people they are teaching and helping, and I also teach a one hour class every other week on our basic beliefs. It is incredibly rewarding to help others gain a greater understanding of who they are as God's children, and what kind of potential that entitles them to. I go on visits every Tuesday to find people who are members who have just moved into the area to see if they need any help getting settled.
