Hi I'm Jake Borup

AZ guy who enjoys the sunny lifestyle. I used to travel the country and play professional sports for a living. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona, enjoying the sun and always being outdoors. After graduating from High School, I served a mission in Charleston, West Virginia from 2006-2008 .I went to college in Arizona on a baseball scholarship. I continued my baseball career when the Philadelphia Phillies drafted me in 2010. I married the love of my life, Kyrstin that summer on July 9th in the Mesa Arizona Temple. 12 months later we were blessed with the birth of our first son. I have traveled to nearly all the 50 states to play baseball and enjoyed 2 seasons as a Minor League Baseball player. I retired to be closer to my family and to further my education and pursue a career as an Entrepreneur. I enjoy being a full-time Husband & Father and a part-time sports enthusiast.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a Mormon is simple: Because I have had experiences, which I can not deny, that have lead me to believe this is the true gospel. Things like apples, trees, humans, the attraction to procreate, and the solar system have lead me to believe that there is a more powerful being, of which we call him God. If there is a God then we are his children. Naturally, I believe a God who has put his children on the Earth would want to communicate with them. For this purpose he has called Prophets, or leaders so that he can communicate to us, his children, without having to eliminate faith. There are few churches, if any, besides the Mormon church who claim to have a prophet. These prophets have restored the true gospel that has been taught since the first man on Earth. Prophets also have brought forth writings known as scripture which can lead us and bless our lives. I have prayed to know the truth concerning the Prophet Joseph Smith who also claimed he translated writings, and had the spirit bear witness to me, many times, that he is a prophet of this God.

How I live my faith

My family and I have been very transient as of the past year, and therefore have rarely been able to hold callings for longer than 5 months. In the time we have been called, we have served as Home and Visiting Teachers, nursery teachers, and youth supervisors. We regularly will feed the missionaries and enjoy cooking for them as they not only bless our home, but help serve as reminders to spread the Gospel. One of the benefits about being retired from baseball and being back home is we are able to serve more functionally within our ward family and we look forward to doing so.
