Hi I'm Emily

I'm in the middle of my second college degree, which is nursing. You could call me a forever student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying one of my new loves in life, nursing. I have a degree in my other love, art history. I love going to art museums and seeing the paintings I studied up close and in person. Two of my favorite paintings, American Gothic and A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of the Grande Jatte, are at one of my favorite museums ever, the Art Institute of Chicago. I love to do crafts, go to the movies with my friends, and travel the world. I get to live with three of my sisters and my poor brother-in-law. I love having sister bonding time on an every day basis!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because I love the Plan of Salvation. After experiencing the deaths of several close family members, I am grateful every day that I have the knowledge that I can see them again. It brings me peace and encourages me to live a righteous life so we can all be together again. I also love being a Mormon because of one of my favorite books, The Book of Mormon. In college, I would learn about art history in South America. It is fascinating to me to be able to read a book about some of the people that could have possibly created these art pieces so very long ago. My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is when Jesus comes and visits the Nephites after he was resurrected. It is such an amazing book.

How I live my faith

I used to go to a Single Adult Ward and loved going every Sunday. I had the opportunity to be the ward choir piano accompanyist and LOVED playing with the choir every week. I am now in a family ward and get to teach the 9 year olds in the ward. Every Sunday, it amazes me how smart all the kids in my class are. They ask such intelligent and inquisitive questions, and you can tell that they are really learning and being able to apply the Gospel in their lives. They teach me something every week.
