Hi I'm Andrea

I'm a wife, mom and grandma. I am a music teacher who loves to sing! and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was married very young and had four children right off. It wasn't a good marriage and ended after ten years. Then I met my current husband, who had two children of his own. We got married and had one together. Our son has become the cement in our family that binds us all together. Family is the most important thing in my life; but I love my job, too. I love being able to sing everyday and teach others the joy of wonderful, uplifting music. Music has been a big part of my life since I was very young. My mom and dad loved to sing and we sang in the car every where we went. I also love reading. My life has become so hectic that the only time I had for reading was late at night. But then I discovered audiobooks. Now I have a book going on my Ipod all the time! I know it seems strange that the music teacher isn't listening to music all the time, but the books just take my mind of all the stresses of life. I love how I can be transported far away and not have to pay plane fare!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a small town to a strong LDS family. My parents loved the Lord and taught me the gospel. I grew up just accepting everything that I had been taught. But when I got married and moved away from home I found myself wondering if I believed all the things I thought I believed. Church took on new meaning as I listened more closely and paid new attention to the teachings I had heard my whole life. I wanted to know for myself if they were right. A little at a time the truths I heard sank deeper into my heart and I realized I knew they were a part of me and always would be. When I got divorced and felt so alone my testimony grew by leaps and bounds. As I turned to the Lord for comfort and guidance I gained a deeper knowledge of my Heavenly Father's love for me and my children. Challenges always turn me to Heavenly Father and I am grateful to always find him there for me.

How I live my faith

I have had many various callings in the church. I have been in leadership, music and teaching positions. For the past two years I have been teaching the 8 year olds. I love the opportunity to teach the gospel to these kids. They are so full of energy! But I know I have taught a good lesson when they become very quiet while I bear my testimony to them. I love attending church every Sunday, and my kids have enjoyed the youth and scouting programs. The women's group gives me a great opportunity to serve various groups of people that I wouldn't have the chance to help on my own. I am a visiting teacher also. This is a program that helps us stay connected as a church family. I have two other women that my partner and I go visit each month. I teach them a little message on a particular gospel topic. Then two other women come and visit me. They make sure all is well in my life and teach me a lesson. Through this program we can find out when someone needs help and we get help ourselves when life is hard. I try to set a good example of a follower of Christ. I try to be kind to others and live with integrity. That is how I live my faith.
