Hi I'm Lavell

I am a Mormon, a missionary, teacher, principal, bishop, scoutmaster, silver beaver award, high councilor, patriarch, sealer.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona. I am the oldest of seven children. I was raised in a wonderful home where I was taught to love Jesus Christ. I have always tried to follow His teachings and have taught our ten children to do the same. I chose education to be my career. I graduated from Arizona State University and have taught elementary and junior high school age children until I became an administrator. I have served on a school board for many years. I have served in the church and community as a scout master and have helped many young men achieve their eagle awards. I received my Wood Badge award and then was chosen to train and teach many men to do the same. I received the silver beaver award in scouting which was a great honor. In the church, I have served as a teacher of all ages. I have also been a bishop, a stake leader, a patriarch, and a temple sealer. I served, with my wife, on a mission in the West Indies. We entered the missionary training center fifty years to the day I entered the mission field when I served my first mission when I was twenty years old. We worked with the young missionaries and I also was blessed to give patriarchal blessings to the people of that land. I am an outdoorsman. I love the mountains and streams and all of God's creations. I love fishing and hunting. I have found many answers to my prayers while praying on a mountaintop or beside a stream of water. I married one of the sweetest girls on earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that He lived on the earth and taught the gospel and set the example for all mankind to follow. He gave His life for me and all who live upon the earth. I believe He still communicates with His prophets and apostles. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, Christ's gospel was restored to the earth. After the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, another prophet was called. I believe there is a living prophet today. President Monson, along with his counselors and twelve living apostles, receive direction and guidance from Jesus Christ. I know God lives and is my loving Father in Heaven. I know the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Ghost, has given me this knowledge. I believe the Bible bears witness of the Godhead and I also believe the Book of Mormon bears witness of the Godhead. This is the reason I am a Mormon and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to live my religion every day. I have never had a problem with alcohol, tobacco, coffee, or tea but I have to work at using good judgement in what I eat. I like to eat! I try hard to keep the commandments of God. I love to kneel in prayer at least twice a day. Many times those prayers have been on the tops of mountains or beside still waters. I love to communicate with my Father in Heaven. I honor the priesthood of God and hold sacred the callings that I have. I try to honor the name given me by my father and mother. I love my family and I love my wife. I hope to be worth to be with her and our family for time and all eternity. I know I will have to work every day of my life to earn this privilege.
