Hi I'm Natalie

I love chocolate and being a mom. I love the outdoors and learning about our amazing world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of seven children and have lived in several different parts of the United States. I also lived and worked in French-speaking Belgium one summer, working in a grocery store and teaching English. I am now Mom to three great people and am married to a great man. I am also a high school teacher of Language Arts, French, and Biology. I think our world is amazing and I love learning about it! I am a hiker, a runner, a biker, and a reader. I believe it is important to take good care of our bodies and I eat a plant-based diet. (Chocolate comes from a plant....)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living the gospel of Jesus Christ and following the teachings of His prophets has consistently brought peace to my life. During both difficult and happy times I have felt the influence of God, either directing me or simply providing what I like to call "spiritual hugs" - little reminders that He is there and watching over me and those I love.

How I live my faith

At church sometimes I help in the class for the very young children (under age 3). We play, read, sing, and laugh together. I am often touched and impressed by the simple knowledge they already have about Jesus and His love for them and for their families. My personal worship time is very important and strengthening to me. I love to read the Book of Mormon and the Bible, as well as the recorded teachings of our modern prophets. As I interact with other people during the day, I try to think of them as my brothers and sisters, as fellow children of God. It helps me have kind and positive thoughts.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Natalie
Our bodies are amazing gifts from our Heavenly Father. Our bodies have a miraculous capacity to heal in most circumstances, but the better we care for them, the better they will work and the better we will feel. We should take care of our bodies so that we can make the most of our time here on earth, including being able to serve and care for our families, friends, and larger communities. The Bible says that our bodies are temples because they hold our spirits, which are also precious and eternal gifts from God. There is a connection between our bodies and our spirits, such that if our bodies are feeling better our spirits will also feel better. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Natalie
I can think of many blessings we can receive from reading and studying the scriptures regularly. For example, we learn more about the life of Jesus Christ, what He did when He was on the earth, how He served and cared for others and how and what He taught. We can also learn about many good people who lived in times before us and we can learn from their examples and experiences. I also believe that as we read the scriptures diligently, we receive strength and peace in our lives and in our homes. I have felt this as an individual and as a family. Just as we need good nourishment for our physical bodies and our minds, we need good nourishment for our spirits, and scripture provides some of this spiritual nourishment. Show more Show less
