Hi I'm Julia Brim

Going from Washington to Utah to Germany and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, which brought with it a love of the outdoors. No matter what the season, I have learned to enjoy myself. From water skiing and kayaking in the summer to snow skiing in the winter, my family always loved to be together. I also love to talk with and be with people. I love learning people's stories and learning what makes them who they are. I just finished my freshman year at Brigham Young University and I am headed to Berlin Germany to serve an 18 month mission. I am so excited to meet and learn about the German people and to teach them about Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

As I grew up, I was diligent in going to church and reading the Book of Mormon, so gradually, my testimony grew without me really recognizing it. By the time I reached high school, I had developed a testimony so solid that I was able to withstand the pressures of life with faith that I never knew I had. I did not have a grand moment where I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true, but I had many simple, yet very powerful moments where my faith was tried and I kept pushing through. These experiences built on one other to become something strong. I think it is important to realize how powerful faith can be. Even when I was little, just following my parents example and going to church, I had faith that Jesus Christ was my Savior. I may not have had a testimony yet, but I did have faith that the happiness and love I felt at church were small gifts and reminders from my Heavenly Father that I was where I was supposed to be. That is the reason why I love this church; it teaches through the Spirit and prompts individuals according to their unique ways of learning. As a child, the Spirit touched me with simple feelings of happiness. As I've grown, the Spirit has guided me through more complex problems, but that underlying feeling of love and happiness that I felt as a child has been constant and unfailing. I know this is the true church. I know that no problem is too big or person too small for Heavenly Father and Jesus. I know that Jesus Christ died for us and atoned for our sins so that we could live lives of happiness and learning, not perfection. I know that as we strive to do what is right, and as we put faith in the simple things, that our faith will grow into something strong and powerful. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus have a plan for us and that all we need to do is stop and listen to the still, small, yet powerful voice of the Spirit and we will be led back to them.

How I live my faith

I think that I primarily live my faith simply by being true to myself and living up to the high expectations I have set for myself. I have a strong desire to do what is right and to live in a way that makes me proud of who I am. For me, that peace came by allowing my choices to be guided by the Spirit. I know that my Heavenly Father knows me better than I know myself. I know that he has a greater understanding of the grand scheme of things than I do and that if I put my trust in him, I will be guided. I live my faith by being a friend and building connections with all types of people. I live my faith by keeping an open mind, while also keeping the spirit close to me to be able to discern between right and wrong. I live my faith by truly being a support to those who need me.
