Hi I'm Bob
I'm a Mormon.
I spent most of my youth growing up in the Seattle area. Following high school I attended Annapolis and spent 24 years in the US Navy. During my career I flew the Navy's EA-6B with carrier-based squadrons around the world, worked in research and development programs, and in aircraft engineering and acquisition. I have worked with the Boy Scouts for many years and enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and mountain climbing. I am a paraglider pilot. I have a magnificent friend and wife who married me over thirty years ago. We have three children, one married, one in the final year of a bachelor's program, and one currently serving a mission for the church.
Why I am a Mormon
As a boy my family was not active in the church. However, as luck would have it, we lived for a couple of years in a small town in northern Utah while I was a young teenager. There, my friends attended church on Sunday and went to youth activities during the week. It was natural to join them and in the course of these activities I came to understand what the church was really about, read the Book of Mormon, attend seminary classes and develop my faith and my own testimony. Since then I have come to understand the hand of God in my life and that of my family. My brother served a mission and my parents have become active members of the church as well. The principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ have provided me with a framework for my life, shown me how I can experience happiness and have confidence in my life. I have come to appreciate the Bible, the divine hand that has made it readily available to us today, and the tesiment of Christ by those who prophesied of His mission and witnessed it first hand. I now know the truth of the Book of Mormon, its divine origin, its message, and testament of our Savior, how we should live, why we exist, and what opportunities are available to us if we have faith and do that which God has asked of us.
How I live my faith
As a youth I enjoyed my association with Boy Scouts. That association has continued through my adult life as I have worked with the young men of the church as an ecclesiastical leader and through the Boy Scout program. I have been an adult scout leader and member of church youth organizations in every ward in which I have lived. Along with the comraderie and example of other excellent adult leaders, I have enjoyed providing opportunities for young men to experience the out of doors, to learn about the world around them, to gain confidence in themselves, appreciate what God has created for them, and hopefully gain insite that will make them better men and leaders. My involvement in church activity as also include part-time missions, teaching the gospel to those near where I live. I have been part of the leadership in our congregation, administering to those under our cognizance, and helping to uplift and aid them not only in temporal needs, but in their spiritual needs. I find satisfaction in helping others and enjoying the friendship that comes with these associations.
