Hi I'm Maria

I'm a mother, wife, self-employed wall painter/muralist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of 5 children. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York where I was raised in an Italian/Catholic family. My married life has enabled me to reside in many states across America and even overseas in England. I have had the opportunity to travel to many countries and cities around the world with my husband and it has been very enjoyable to see and experience many different places. We love to travel with our children and show them different places too. I enjoy caring for my marriage, home and family. I also enjoy other forms of creativity in cooking, baking, sewing, needlework such as embroidery, cross stitch and crochet. I also turned my hobby of oil painting on canvas, as well as painting my own walls at home into a part-time business. I am a self-employed wall painter/muralist. So if you need trim work like doors, baseboards, or fresh coats of solid color, faux finishes or even some flowers, mountains, footballs, family trees, etc., call me! I also greatly enjoy other peoples creativity and talents through listening to various kinds of music, seeing performances in movies, plays, dance theaters and concerts. I enjoy reading fiction, non-fiction, as well as the scriptures. Keeping a degree of physical fitness is also a weekly priority.

Why I am a Mormon

As I mentioned, I was raised a Catholic. My husband was raised a Lutheran. When we married, religion wasn't part of our lives together or individually. I guess we were Christians in name only. After we were married for 8 years and my first baby was 11 months old, I joined the Mormon church. Fortunately for me and our family my husband did join too a year after me. Together we have found greater comfort, peace, strength, guidance, blessings in this church then we could have ever imagined. We have been blessed to learn about the purpose of life, the purpose and mission of the Savior, Jesus Christ, even his great atonement for ourselves and all of mankind. This has given us great strength and hope to persevere in spite of our mistakes and weaknesses and in a difficult world. It gives us hope for tomorrow and even for after this life. I can't imagine life without this church and this gospel. It has changed my life and has strengthened my family. As parents we have been aided to teach our children solid values. Jesus is our example and we are very grateful.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example to my family of love and goodness. I try to be a good neighbor and offer help, comfort, or friendliness. Over the years I volunteer at my children's schools, and I am a big believer that we don't have to run the PTO/PTA to be effective. Every little bit helps. I love the scripture "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass". I actively participate in my church. I attend church each Sunday, volunteer in the choir as a soprano, I help out and attend our many other fun church socials. One of my recent favorite service opportunities was to serve as our churches Den Leader for the 9 year old boys. I served for 6 years and I loved it! We are given many service opportunities at church - and we are free to accept these opportunities or not. I have always accepted them. In this way, I feel I am being of service to others and to God. I pray and study the scriptures and try to become a better person - here a little there a little. This brings me comfort to try to please God and do what I've learned he would have me do and become. I try to help and love people in ways I can while trying to maintain a balance for myself and family.
