Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a husband, a father and a teacher. I've taught in Central America, in prison, and in High School, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

While in college I struggled with the decision of what to be when I "grew up". For a long time I thought I wanted to be a doctor. The money and what I thought would bring prestige, motivated me to pursue a career that deep down I knew would not bring me the fulfillment I looked for. One day while on the University campus I attended, I walked into the Education building. I felt like I had "come home". Now ten years and thousands of students later, I'm still at home. I love teaching!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. Everything I have learned and have come to know in the Church reaffirms that God knows who I am and cares about me and my Family. The night before I was married to my wife my dad invited me to kneel down and pray and essentially ask for God's blessing. As I did, I felt such warmth and love and the feeling that my Father in Heaven knew exactly who I was and what I needed. Now 10 years and three little boys later I try to share that love with my own family like the Church teaches me to do.

How I live my faith

Other than serving my wife and children, I have been asked to serve several other families in our area. It is so much fun and such a fulfilling thing to watch families grow, or help them through their struggles. I, with a assigned companion, usually stop by a few times a month to offer service and teach a short spiritual lesson to the family. Every time I visit as part of my "Hometeaching" assignment, I feel I am uplifted just as much as they are.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Just like a Father who has two different sons living in two different parts of the world but desires to keep in touch with both, Our Heavenly Father has children all over the world and wants to communicate with them all. The Bible is the record of this communication, either directly, or through his prophets in the Old World. The Book of Mormon is a record of God's communication with his Prophets in the New World or the Americas. These prophets, like those of the Bible, shared the same Gospel and the same message of the coming of Jesus Christ into the world to suffer for our sins, die on the cross, and be resurrected.
