Hi I'm Donnie

I am a wife, mother, marathon runner, triathlete and have a passion for nutrition and exercise. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Texas, but have lived the majority of my life in Arizona...what can I say I love warm, dry weather. I graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition Management and that along with exercise is my passion. I am a wife and have been married to my amazing husband/dentist for nine years. After several years of trying to get pregnant and unsuccessful fertility treatments my husband and I were blessed with the amazing opportunity to adopt. Our son was born four years ago and 15 months later we were blessed with a little girl. They are both of mixed ethnicities and from different birth parents, but almost on a daily basis I get asked if they are twins. They were meant to be siblings and to be apart of our family. We would love to adopt again and keep our adoption certification current in the hopes that it will happen again. Besides being a wife and mother and loving all things fitness related I love to read. I probably read at least one new book a week. I keep a family blog to journal our lives and I love to listen to music. I can't really dance very well, but that doesn't stop me from doing it because I love it so much...hence my love with all dance related movies and tv shows. I also love anything to do with fashion...clothes, shoes, makeup, hair, accessories...you name it, I love it. I love to travel, hang out with family and friends and just love each day of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and have been a Mormon since I was baptized at 8 years old. My mom comes from a long Mormon family history and my dad is a convert and the only one in his family who is Mormon. Even though I was raised Mormon my parents were and still are firm believers of seeking out your own belief. You have to have your own testimony and conviction to be something and because of that I came to know that things I had been taught were true. I love that my church is God's church and that it is based on a very specific plan. I lived before I came to this earth and through faith, work and the atonement of my Savior I will live after this life. Part of one my favorite scriptures is "Men are that they might have joy"...being a Mormon brings me joy. I have a purpose in being a wife and mother...which above all other things I love is first and foremost. I love that our church was re-established in the exact same way Christ had established his church while still on this earth. We have a Prophet and apostles, temples, the priesthood and a world-wide organization that could only run and function under the direction of God. Because of these things and through the spirit of the Holy Ghost I know they are true and that is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

Since our church is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ I try to live my life like him. Our church has many opportunities for service both within it and in our daily lives. I am apart of the women's group in our church who bond together through love, support and service. Our motto is "Charity Never Faileth". At least once a month another lady and I visit several other ladies to give a gospel related message and help her with anything she may need. I have had many different assignments throughout my life in the church which have included teaching Sunday lessons to the children, youth and women. I have also worked with our teenage girls group and cub scouts. I have given talks in church and tried to help out in any area that I am needed. What I love about our church is that no calling is for profit...it is all completely volunteer and it amazes me how many countless, selfless hours have been given in service. I know that I am not perfect or anyone for that matter, but God's church and gospel is perfect. I just try to do my very best and with the love and support of God and my Savior, family, friends and fellow church members I know I can make this journey through life with all of it's joys, trials, sorrows, and happiness. He never said it would be easy only that it would be worth it. I live my life the way I do because I know it will be worth it.
