Hi I'm Nate

I'm a husband, father, organist, computer geek, aviation enthusiast and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wonderful wife and I have two children. I served a mission in the Philippines where I learned the Tagalog language and enjoyed Filipino cuisine. I played the trombone in a university's marching band for five years and still enjoy watching college football games. I have been known to spend hours practicing the piano and organ because I enjoy it. I'm working in the information security field. Another activity that I enjoy is to cook and bake food and I enjoying eating good food just about as much!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church since my baptism at age 8. I was raised in the church and have always seen the blessings of following the principles of the gospel. During my younger years, I primarily relied upon the faith and testimonies of my parents but felt that the church was true. When I was 15, I was challenged by a youth advisor to find out for myself whether the church was true. I had read the Book of Mormon and I knew that our Heavenly Father would be able to communicate to me whether it and the Church is true. I prayed and received an answer to my prayer that indeed it is true. There were several other experiences that I've had over the years that have confirmed that first answer. The joy that enters our lives from following the teachings and example of our Savior Jesus Christ can lighten burdens that we carry. While on my mission in the Philippines, I observed this joy take root in people as they transformed their lives and accepted the gospel. Each time I shared with them the story of Joseph Smith's first vision, the Holy Spirit testified to me that it is true. I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each one of us and have made it possible for us to return to them. They have called prophets and apostles in our day to communicate their will to us and to help us return to their presence.

How I live my faith

Each day presents opportunities to follow the example of the Savior. Though I am not perfect and make mistakes, I try to improve and be the best person I can be. I strive to be kind to those I interact with and to be honest in all my dealings. I love the feeling I have when serving others, whether it is something that takes a lot of time or effort, or something small and seemingly insignificant. Currently, I serve as the organist in my congregation and as a counselor in the Sunday School presidency. Each Sunday, I have the opportunity to help others feel the Spirit through sacred music. Generally I play three or four hymns each week during our worship service with prelude and postlude music before and after the meeting. I also serve as the stake organist with the primary responsibility to help train other organists in the stake. As a counselor in the Sunday School presidency, I support others who have the responsibility to teach lessons to teens and adults. As a presidency, we encourage other members to study the gospel and attend Sunday School classes to learn more about our Savior.
