Hi I'm David Hill

I am a father and husband, I am a sports fanatic, and i am a mormon

About Me

I have been married for over 14 years to the love of my life. We have 4 children whose ages range from 4 to 12 and they are all absoulutly amazing. I work in sales and have been doing it for the last 9 years. I love to work with others and teach and strive each day to make a dfference. I absolutly love any sport that has to do with a ball. I grew up playing the sport of the season. When it was football season i played football, when it was basketball season i played basketball, and when it was baseball season i played baseball. Athletics have always been a huge part of my life and has taught me many life lessons. Now that i am older i still play sports through our church leagues and city leagues and find great excitement attending and watching sporting events. In the last 6 to 7 years i have picked up golf which i am absolutly addicted too and take every opportunity i kind to get out and swing the sticks.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the wonderful blessing of growing up in the church. I was adopted as a baby and to this day i am so greatful that i was blessed to be adopted into a family that loves me unconditionally and had values and teachings of the church in their home. Of course growing up in any religion there comes a time when you have to discover for yourself if it is right. For me in my teenage years i began to truly search for myself and to desire to know if what i had been taught was true and the right path for me. Like anyone else who is searching for truth i began to really study the scriptures, my prayers were more sincere, and heart felt, and i was pleading with the Lord to direct me to know for myself if the Book of Mormon was true, if there were prophets that lived today, if Jesus Christ was really my Redeemer and Savior, and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true. I put alot of eneregy and time into finding the truth. I always believed in God and the existence of a loving Father in Heaven and i truly believed he would answer my prayers. After a period of time of continuing going through this process my questions and prayers were answered and a very sweet peaceful feeling came to my heart and mind. By no means was it earth shattering but it was perfect for me. To this day i can remember that day and my life honestly has never been the same. My outlook on life as a young man was different and i felt like i was full of purpose. Life is not easy and not knowing what the purpose of life is makes it only more difficult. So once i found for myself that the gospel was true i had direction, i had a purpose, there was reason and meaning to my life and why i was here and what i needed to know and do to return to the presence of my Heavenly Father and to live with him again.

How I live my faith

Everyday i strive to live my faith. It's vital in the world we live in today to hold tight to your faith and values. Its important as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to live your faith everyday to the best you can. Its important to accept everyone as a child of God and to treat them as our brothers and sisters no matter what. Living your faith is trying to follow in the foot steps of the Savior and to do your best to make choices God would be happy with. By no means are any of us perfect and thankfully our Father in Heaven is well aware of that, but are we doing our best to follow the promptings of the spirit and to live the commandments that God has given us. One of the things i love most about our religion is it is not a Sunday only religion. We as members have callings and responsibilities that give us opportunities throught the week to serve others, excersise faith, and to do righteous things. I have had chances to spend time serving with youth, being a teacher, and serving in responsibilities of leadership. We believe were all in this together and each of us helps the other to reach their full potential. It is an absolute blessing to serve and to have influence in anothers life no matter if there a members of our church or a neighbor or a complete stranger.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

David Hill
To me the principle of faith is not only important but vital to being able to overcome the challenges and trials that we often face. One of my favorite scriptures on faith reads "faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true". God reveals truth to his children when they put thier trust in him and when they allow him to influence their soul through the holy ghost. To me we increase our faith when we are doing things that increase the influence of the holy ghost, such as reading the scriptures, thoughtful prayer, serving others, and attending church. When we surround ourselves with goodness and are living righteously we naturally become more like God and Jesus Christ which in turn allows our spirit to be more in tune with Him. Obedience to God opens up the spirit of God to direct us in his ways and allows our heart and mind to be open to His promptings and our faith becomes stronger and develops our testimony in Him. I mentioned in my profile i love atheletics. No one could excel or become good in sports unless they put in the time and energy to practice and improve their skill. The same is required when it comes to faith, we must put in our sincere effort and when we do the Lord promisies us he will bless us with an increased faith and knowledge. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

David Hill
I have come to a knowledge that church worship and temple worship are necessary to come closer to God and his Son Jesus Christ. While both church and the temple are very important they do differ. Church services are provided each Sunday to allow us to partake of the sacrament in rememberence of Jesus Christ and to enjoy classes that instruct and inspire us to live the best we can and to develop into true disciples of Jesus Christ. The church doors are open to everyone and we all need the spiritual nourishment that church attendance offers. The Temple is also a very special place and a place of worship. All are welcome, however unlike attending a church meeting you must meet certain qualifications. The first is you must be a member of the church and determined worthy (not perfect) to attend the Temple. In the Temple you learn of the plan our Heavenly Father has for us and you make certain covenants and promises. It is a place of worship, reflection, and a place of spiritual service. For me attending the Temple allows me for a time to remove myself from all the chaos of the world and my own busy schedule and to just worship in a special way and feel the love of God. The Temple is a sacred place that reminds you of the purpose and creation of life, the mission of Jesus Christ, and the reality of God and his love for his children. Show more Show less
