Hi I'm Don Hughes

I grew up in Arizona. Graduated from BYU with a BS in EE. Married with 7 children. I volunteer in Boy Scouts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with 7 children. I work in semiconductor industry. I work out 5 days a week. I enjoy playing basketball and volleyball. I volunteer with the Boy Scouts. I like to read historical fiction and non-fiction books. I love to spend time at my kids school and sport activities. I like to go camping and hiking. I like to visit national and state parks, along with historical sites. I enjoy watching movies, especially action/adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that is members of the Mormon church. My parents taught me to enjoy attending and serving in the church. They taught me the doctrines, and when I studied and prayed for myself, I gained a testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the true church. I was given the opportunity to serve as a missionary for the church in Canada Toronto Mission. My mission gave me experiences in sharing the gospel with others, where I felt the Spirit and strengthen my testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ was contained in the Mormon church. I have witnessed miracles throughout my life that have shown God's power on the earth, and is contained in the Mormon church. Attending college I was introduced and fell in love with my wife. We were married in the temple for time and all eternity, which is one of Heavenly Father's greatest gift to me, and blessed us with 7 children. The church has helped me to raise my children in a way that has brought many years of happiness, that I am working to maintain forever. Daily prayer and scripture reading individually and as a family brings peace into my home. Attending church as a family helps us maintain what is important to do as an individual and a family. I know there is a prophet of God on the earth, who speaks for our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ lived, that he fulfilled his mission as Savior and Redeemer. Jesus Christ provided a way that I can repent of my sins and be made clean that I might be able to return and live with my Heavenly Father, with my family.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings each week. I spend time each month making sure 3 families are doing well and help out as needed. I volunteer my time and talents with the Boy Scout unit that is sponsored by the congregation that I attend. I enjoy the chance to be with Boy Scouts in the outdoors talking about all that God has created for us. I enjoy the chance to teach lessons to any age group. I enjoy preparing talks to share with different congregations of Mormon church.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Don Hughes
Yes, I believe there is a prophet on the earth today. The prophet is the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is called by God, to speak His words to all the earth. Prophets were important in the Bible and Book of Mormon to teach God's children. We need a prophet today to teach us God's will and how to prepare for the Jesus Christ 2nd coming to the earth. A prophet helps us to know God's will today. A prophet can help us prepare for the good and hard times. Help us find happiness in troubled times and what is really important in our daily lives. The prophet leads God's church on the earth today. I am grateful to know that God loves us today by providing a prophet on the earth today. Show more Show less
