Hi I'm Shelby

I'm a missionary in St. George, Utah. I am loving life. I love talking to strange people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have one brother and two sisters. I love my family and am serving a mission for 18 months in St. George Utah! I love it and love all the blessings and comfort the church brings into my life! I am excited about my future and all that the Lord has planned for me! I love to dance and to do crazy things! I love the sun!! I love to be warm and that is why I love Arizona!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Gospel. I have never known anything different but i have never doubted that the church was not true. i have always known it was true but I also have had to really work on keeping my testimony, especially during my high school years. I have become a stronger and more confident person because of it. I am very happy with the standards I have and I don't let others lead me astray. The church means a lot to me in my life and it has made me a better person. I realized that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is so much bigger then I have ever thought before! It allows me to do the things that I have not been able to do otherwise! It makes me stronger and I know that Jesus Christ is there for me no matter what choices I make in life!

How I live my faith

I am a missionary! That is how I show people what I believe and stand for! I knew that I could be good staying home and going to school but I wanted to be great. I wanted a closer relationship with my Savior so I left my family and school for 18 months to serve the Lord. I love sharing my beliefs with people and seeing the blessings of the gospel enter their lives. I am strong in my faith and know that Heavenly Father has a plan for all of His children and I trust in His plan and His will. Whenever I am down or sad I know that I can turn to Him and He will lift me higher then I was before.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Shelby
I need Jesus Christ because I know that I cannot go through my life on my own. Through Him I can be freed from guilt and sorrow. He heals me, He refines me, He is my rock. I have grown to love Him so much. As I have studied His life and the things that He has done I have come to know Him so closely. He is my best friend. I know that I can turn to Him when I feel all alone and that no one else is there for me. Only through folowing Him can I be truly happy. He has guided me in so many ways in my life and I know that He has a bigger plan for me then I can even imagine. I need Him every single day. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Shelby
The Restoration was needed because after Christ was killed the Apostles were also persecuted and killed. With them the authority to act in God's name was lost and the direct revelation from God was no longer available. Through the years that followed the Bible underwent many translations and many things were taken out to conform to the times. Doctrines became confusing and the Church corrupt. There were many good, honorable people of the time that tried to put things back to where they were suppose to be (also known as the reformation time) but they did not receive that authority to act in God's name so a complete Restoration of the Gospel was needed including bringing back the doctrine that was lost during the many translations of the Bible. That is why we have the Book of Mormon which was translated through the power of God through the Prophet that restored the church and received that authority to act in God's name, Joseph Smith. How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Shelby
When you have that desire to learn more and come unto Christ more then the first thing to do is to meet with Latter-day Saint missionaries (they have name tags:). They will teach you what we believe and how you can know these things for yourself. They will invite you to be baptized by the priesthood authority of God or the Priesthood. This will enable you to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost and to be on the path that leads to eternal life. If you are still not sure if you want to meet with missionaries ask those you know who are members and read Moroni 10: 3-5 and follow the counsel it gives. I promise you that as you do these things Heavenly Father will guide you and you will know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and that you can have all the blessings and come closer to Christ.
