Hi I'm Kent

I always knew that there was a God but I had chosen to ignore that until I desperately needed his help. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a small farming community. I have been in the construction trade for thirty years. I love high adventure activities such as rappeling, hiking, and camping. I enjoy traveling and get excited to see new places. I have been married for thirty years, have a wonderful son , daughter-in-law, and a grandson on the way.

Why I am a Mormon

At the age of 12 I lost my father and began to blame God for letting that happen. I didn't think I needed God in my life. In my thirties a beautiful daughter was born and she became critically ill. I asked my son to pray with me that she would be healed. That was when I realized I had never told him about God or taught him to pray. My little girl needed a transplant in a city far away. My wife left with her and I was in charge at home with our son. Many of our neighbors were members of the LDS church and without me even asking meals started arriving, help was offered with my son, and friendship was given in countless ways. No pressure was given to join the church. Kind inquiries and practical help were what I received. I began to ask myself what kind of religion produced this behavior? Why were these people willing to help a total stranger? I began to take the missionary discussions. I learned the plan of salvation. I learned families could be sealed in the holy temple for time and all eternity. Even though my daughter died I have so much peace knowing our family will be together again because of the gospel ordinances that have been restored on earth.

How I live my faith

It has been sixteen years since my daughter's death and the man who would not even speak to God is now the Bishop in our Ward. Serving in the church is my favorite hobby and my greatest joy. Everyday I am reminded that God loves each of his children and knows us by name. I love relying on God every minute of every hour.
