Hi I'm Debbie

I love teaching! I have taught or tutored Kindergarten, reading,my children and now my GRANDCHILDREN! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a traditional Mormon home where my mother stayed home and my father went to work. From the time I can remember I wanted to be a teacher. I remember playing school with all my dolls and stuffed animals as my students. Fortunately I was able to fulfill my dream. I taught in the public school system off and on over the years as I raised a family of five children and then helped raise twelve more in a second marriage.I LOVE kindergarteners! I am now retired but continue to volunteer in a tutorial role in the public school system. I now have twenty two grandchildren and have discovered being an "Oma" is even better than being a school teacher! I love the arts. I play the piano, organ, guitar and cello. I sing in the church choir. I love attending symphonies, plays, and musicals. I also enjoy cooking, sewing and scrapbooking. I have been told that my chocolate chip cookies are the best.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into an LDS home, at the age of seventeen I began to question some of the things I had been taught all my life. I wanted to know for myself if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was Christ's true church. This attitude caused a great deal of friction between my mother and I. I spent time learning about other religions during that time. The more I learned the more I came to realize the truthfulness of the principles I had been taught. I am grateful for this experience because I can say without a doubt that I know this Church to be true and I am proud to say that I am a Mormom.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in my church and community. I have been involved with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts in my community. I have had many opportunites to teach young children and the youth in my church organization. I have been able to use my musical abilities by conducting music and playing the piano for choirs and other groups. I have also been able to teach cooking and other homemaking skills to the women in my neighborhood. I have enjoyed being involved in several PTA organizations. When my children were young I volunteered in their classrooms. As a volunteer, I taught an art program in one elementary school for a few years. I have also enjoyed serving as an election judge during several elections.
