Hi I'm Steve Abaroa

I'm a Mormon and I love it!

About Me

I was born in San Diego, and grow up Lemon Grove. I went on my mission to Indiana. When I came home I went to school at Cuyamaca Community College, from there I went to BYU. My BA was in Journalism Ed. and it was there that I meet the love of my life. We were married there in Provo and I started teaching at Spanish Fork Jr. High. After two years and one son, we moved to Gilbert, Arizona. In 1997, I was named the Journalism teacher of the year. I started to write for the Arizona Republic too. In 1998 we added one more boy to our family. Currently, I am teaching English and Theatre Arts, and I am a proud Grandpa.

Why I am a Mormon

Eventhough I was born in the church, I had to find out for myself if the church was true. I remember I was in bed two week before I was to leave for my mission, when I thought to myself, "Hey, I am going to give two years to the Lord, I better make sure this is the right thing." I had had many witnesses of the truth, but I really wanted to know for sure. I knelt by my bed and prayed. My heart burned within. I had such and witness that it is hard to put into words. I know this is the true church and I love it with all my heart!

How I live my faith

I am part of State Arts committees and I try hard to live my faith. Because of that people respect my views and they know I am honest in my dealings with them. I teach the youth in church and when I pick plays to direct at school I pick plays that will uplift the community.
