Hi I'm Debra

I am a wife, mother of 6 and grandmother of 12. I love being each one of these. I love being able to say, "I am a Mormon".

About Me

I was born into a family of 6 brothers and 1 sister. Family has always been important to me. I have always "mothered" everyone around me,, just ask my brothers and sister. So it is no surprise that my greatest desire was to marry and be a mother. I have had the opportunity to be married to the finest man who has ever lived for the last 35 years. I don't pretend to say it has been easy but my greatest blessings have come from marriage. Six of those blessings have been my children. They have blessed me with 12 grandchildren and hopefully many more! I met my husband while attending BYU. I had just finished my Junior year and I felt like I had met my goal of going to BYU---I was married. I told my husband's grandmother that I would not continue on with my education and she said,"oh, yes you will continue and you will finish!" I graduated with a degree in Social Work 10 days before my second child was born. I am so glad that she encouraged me to complete my degree. I have been blessed to be able to be a "stay-at-home mom" so I have not used this degree in a formal fashion but it sure helped me understand a lot of things around me and interactions. The completion of college brought me great confidence that I could do hard things. One of the hardest things I have done is be a mom. It is something that I wanted to be the best at so I was always trying to be better. My husbands occupation has taken us to many great places all over the US. We have learned a lot together.

Why I am a Mormon

Each day I live, I ask myself why I was so blessed to have the gospel a part of my life from the beginning. I was able to go to Primary, learn the Articles of Faith, be a part of the Young Women's program. We had Dance Festivals,Roadshows, Youth Conferences, Dances, Girls Camp, etc.. My life has always been full of the goodness of the programs of the Church. How fortunate I am as an adult woman, to be a part of the Relief Society organization. I have associations with other woman who are seeking for the same fulfillment in life. We receive instruction, we serve each other, but most important we find acceptance and love in our associations. The Lord has organized us perfectly. I have a testimony of that. All of the programs of the Church are there to have us understand how to and then want to come back to live with our Heavenly Father again. He has given us everything we could possibly need to be successful in this life. He has given us a way to communicate with him. That is through prayer. He speaks to us through the scriptures He has given us. We have the great blessing of a Prophet of God here upon the earth. We have His power here upon the earth through the priesthood. We can be families forever through the power of the priesthood and its ability to seal us together in His holy temples. The greatest of all gifts is the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. He suffered for my sins, died on the cross, so that I can be forgiven and live again. I believe all of this. I have tried it and know of the truthfulness of it all. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to be a part the gospel of Jesus Christ here upon the earth today. I have learned so much about Him and what it takes to be like Him. It just all makes so much sense and then add to that the peace it has brought to me. I know who I am, I know what I want and I know how to get there.

How I live my faith

I have already shared how important I believe motherhood is. This has been my greatest calling. Raising good kids has been my greatest accomplishment. I have had the opportunity to be a part of my children's schools. I have helped in there classrooms, in the lunchroom, on the playground and in the office. This has allowed me to know their friends, their teachers and administrators at the schools and to keep an eye on them. I have loved being a part of their lives. I have been a coach for their teams and have been their greatest fan in all of their events. I love women!!! I love my associations with them and the power we have as we unite in a cause. Service to others has brought me my greatest joy. First of all that, that happens in the home is most important and then as I look around and see those in need. My husband and I have had the opportunity to work with those who are investigating the Church and then those who are new members. I love them! They are so excited about all they are learning, the changes they have made in their lives, and all that is ahead for them. What a great thing to watch as they progress.I have literally seen miracles happen in their lives. I have had many opportunities to teach, young and old alike. I love sharing my testimony(what I have learned through experience) with others.
