Hi I'm Shanna

I'm a daughter, sister, high school student, and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Senior in high school, hoping to go college at BYU Provo or BYU-Idaho next year. I have lived in Illinois my enite life and am excited to (hopefully) be able to live out West next year! At my high school I participate in theatre. I am one of three Mormons in my school, with one of the other two being my younger sister. I am the third of four children. I love to travel!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. Both of my parents are converts. They both joined the church in their twenty's. Though they were very new members of the church, they both served missions. My Mom served in Charlotte, North Carolina and my Dad served in Santiago, Chile. The great examples my parents have set for me have definitey contributed to why I have chosen to be member of the church. Going into my teenage years was when I really decided that I needed to find out for myself if the church was true and not just always rely on the beliefs of my parents. I constantly prayed to my Heavenly Father to find out if this churh really was His true church. After reading the Book of Mormon one day, I knelt down and asked Heavenly Father if the things I had read in the book really were true and if the church was true. I immediately felt an overwhelming feeling of peace and happiness and I knew that my Heavenly Father had answered my prayers. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is the true church. And I love being apart of it.

How I live my faith

Being one of three Mormons in my school, and the only Mormon in my grade, it can be tough to be different from everyone else. But I do my best to be a good example to those around me and share my beliefs with others whenver the opportunity arises. I love particpating in activites and service projects with my youth group. I also serve in my church as the President of the class for 16-18 year old girls, known as the Laurels. I love spending time with these youth because they have such strong testimonies of the gospel and they show it by loving and serving everyone around them!
