Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a tinkerer. Making old things work is my hobby. I am a husband and father. I love video games & Johnny Cash. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to spend time fixing old things. I love the feeling I get when an old typewriter's bell dings . Or the sound of an old car rumbling back to life. There just something about the feel of a wrench that brings a smile to my face. I have been married to my wife for 7 years, and in that time we have been blessed with 4 beautiful children. They are my light and my life. I hope to pass all of the things that I have learned and will learn on to them. I own two guitars, I cant play them ( but my wife does beautifully). I like to play video games, when I can spare a few hours. This usually occurs Friday night, into the wee hours. I like movies. I like star trek. I keep telling my self that I like hummus, but I don't. I loath yard work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was what you can call a "Prodigal Son". I was raised in the Church and baptized when I was 8. At the age of 14 I decided that I wanted to take a break and be just like all the "cool kids". Every now and then I would be walking around town and would feel a prompting in my heart that said "Ryan, are you ready yet?" And I would turn my eyes skyward and say guiltily "No not yet". And so I carried on for a while. At about the age of 19 when prompted once again this time, with a very heavy heart I replied "Yes Lord, I am ready." And so I tucked my tail and entered the Church building for the first time in many years and was greeted with open loving arms. All my missteps forgiven and washed aside. God waited for me and reminded me all along the way, "Ryan I love you and when you are ready I will be here." I'm a Mormon because I feel God's influence in my every day life. I have tried living life on my own, trying to make it with out His love. But I always found life to be a hard road with no relief in sight. Then I accepted Him with all my heart. Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. That pretty much sums it up.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed for the last few years to work with the young men in our church. We have been working with the Boy Scouts of America to teach these young men life skills that they can use in the future as leaders. It is a very rewarding experience to see a rambunctious youth mature into a teacher and leader of his peers.
