Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in California. I love children and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother to 5 girls. My family is my whole life. I am a stay-home mom and think that's the best job out there! I love to read western novels, especially Louis Lamour books, and often dream of living back when the West was settled. I also love to see the California beach every year. I have many fond memories as a young girl going to the beach in the summer. I have continued that tradition with my family, and we go to the beach almost every year.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy and and gives me hope. I believe all the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My mom joined the church as a single mom when I was 6 years old. She had felt abandoned and ostricized by her previous church after her divorce. My mother was a woman of great faith and lived the principles of the Gospel. She taught my sister and I as young girls that we had a Heavenly Father who loved us. She taught us to pray and be kind and give service to others. She taught us it's okay to make mistakes because we had a loving brother, Jesus Christ, who atoned for our sins. We always knew we could repent and be forgiven. My mother instilled in me a faith and hope in Jesus Christ. He is my rock. When I have a bad day, or challenges arise, I know I will be okay. I never feel alone or have despair. I believe despair is a tool of Satan. The Mormon church teaches about The Plan of Happiness. I know that after this life I will be resurrected, and if I live worthy and keep the commandments, I can live with my family forever, all of us together. I work every day to make sure I can be with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by giving service daily. I have a calling in the church called the Compassionate Service Leader. I organize service to people and families who need help as emergencies arise. Last week I organized meals for 2 ladies who had babies and a meal for a single sister with 4 kids who had just moved. I love my calling! It's a great outlet for my desire to help others. I also teach a seminary religion class to Special Needs High School students one day a week. I know they are special spirits who are assured a place in Heaven with God and Jesus Christ. I learn so much from them and enjoy preparing lessons. I try to live my religion by being a good Christian. I pray for opportunities to serve others daily. Serving makes me happy. I have been blessed by service many times throughout my life. One of these times was when my mom was living with us and dying of cancer. I had 4 small girls at the time and life was busy. Many sisters in my church brought meals and picked up my kids so I could have a break or spend time with my mom. I also went into the hospital unexpectedly once and people came and cleaned my house! My life is blessed because of the many friends and church members who have served me and my family. It makes me want to help others. I always feel as if I am acting for the Savior when I serve. I do it because I love Him and try to repay all He has done for me.
