Hi I'm Whitney

I'm an aspiring avid reader, a "professional" mother, and a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Gilbert, AZ. I am married to an AMAZING man and we have five beautiful children ranging in age from seven years down to one. Motherhood has got to be my favorite thing; it's so full of challenges and opportunities to learn and grow! There's never a dull moment, that's for sure.  I don't think it's something I'm naturally good at, but I'm determined to become great one step at a time! I recently rediscovered my love of reading. Books are amazing! I think the stories we read make up a large part of who we are and affect how we respond to every situation, so I try to make sure I'm always reading uplifting things that help me become better. The New Testament and Book of Mormon are among my very favorites! Music has always been a big part of my life. I've played the piano since I was three and later taught piano lessons for seven years. I love to sing! Some of my fondest memories include singing around the piano with my five brothers, two sisters and parents. Now I sing (and dance) with my own children--just in the kitchen though. ;)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by AMAZING parents who had strong testimonies and taught me the truth from the time I was small. As a child I naturally sought out my Heavenly Father often as I was taught new things by my parents and teachers. I heard stories about people who received answers to prayers and I felt certain that I should be entitled to those types of experiences as well. I began asking God for answers, (initially more in a spirit of testing than anything else), and I found that though I didn't feel like ALL of my prayers were answered, the times when I sincerely felt in my little heart that I NEEDED His help, He DID answer. Over the years I have learned how to hear Him more clearly and I have become absolutely certain that He knows and cares about ME! In the most difficult times of my life, His gospel has been my anchor and I have been able to recognize how He has consecrated my experiences for my good and progress! I know God lives! I know He loves me! I know He restored the fullness of the gospel through His prophet Joseph Smith and that we have that gospel today in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I know He sent His only begotten son in the flesh to atone for my sins! I am so grateful to my loving Heavenly Father and to His Son, Jesus Christ, for providing a way for all of us to return to Them! "God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son!"

How I live my faith

I try to live my life so that I can be close to my Heavenly Father and understand His will for me. I know that He will make a lot more out of my life than I can! :) I teach the women in the church one Sunday a month and thoroughly enjoy all the wonderful things I learn through that opportunity. I can hardly be called "the teacher"! I learn so much more from the testimonies of the women around me than they do from me, I'm sure! I also teach my children! This, I feel, is my most important contribution. I pray every day that I can teach my children the things God wants them to understand and help to cultivate in them a strong desire to follow His plan.
