Hi I'm Jill himes

I'm a Mormon. I've been married for 7 years and we have 3 children.

About Me

I went to college in Arizona for 3 years, worked with children with autism and cerebral palsy, loved it. Got married, moved to Utah with my husband, he went to school for his bachelors. After 4 years we moved to Colorado for medical school, we had our 3 children along the way and now we have 1 year left. I've really enjoyed staying home with our kids, they keep me going and are always entertaining me with there silliness. I love to sew, do crafts, run, play sports, do genealogy, read and dance.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and felt good when I went, but when I was 14 after I attended a religious youth camp I came home and decided i wanted my own testimony. I loved seeing other kids my age having fun and loving the gospel. I also enjoyed listening to the teachers teach at the camp, they made it fun and spiritual. So I decided I wanted to try to do everything right and read my scriptures everyday, pray, go to church, participate and make sure I was living worthy. From then on, my testimony grew, when i went to college, there were a lot of good people that I could follow and they helped me in the church. Times weren't always easy, but I had my testimony of the church to trust in, so it helped. I always felt good when I went to church and so I knew it was right. I know that the leaders of our church are inspired from god to teach us the same doctrine over and over, so we know how important they are, the church is perfectly organized, I know heavenly father loves me, because he has blessed me with more than I can say.

How I live my faith

I go to activities with the ladies at church once a month, which is a fun time to get to know them, socialize and also learn good skills to raise a family, how to cook, how to do finances, how to keep healthy, exercise and just have fun. I've been working with the youth to help with there activities and that's a lot of fun. I have a visiting teaching assignment where I visit two girls with a partner, we usually share a lesson at there house and then visit, see if we can help them with anything, and mainly just get to know them and be there friend.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jill himes
Being a Mormon is freeing. I feel like I know what is right and what is wrong, because I have been taught and so i don't get caught up in addictions of the world. I can live my life and be truly happy and I've learned that I have people that love me, when I go through hard times, they help me. Most importantly I've learned that God loves me and is always there if I turn to him. Being a Mormon isn't always easy, it's a way of life and a commitment. I go to church for 3 hours every Sunday, we have activities during the week that we can go to, and we have a family night every Monday that consists of games, desserts and a short lesson. I also have a assignment to help with the youth during church and during the week. But through all this I feel like it makes me grow and learn how to be a better person, I love it. Show more Show less
