Hi I'm John

I've been married for 25 years. I'm a father of 5 and love to do Scouting with my boys and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a cancer survivor. after being married for 9 years we decided to adopt our children. I have 4 boys and 1 girl. the youngest are boy/girl twins. I love to do Scouting with my boys and it has become a big part of my life. It has created great bonds between us. a few of my passions in life is wood working and playing the drums, although as a busy father I don't get as much time as I would like to do either. My family is the most important thing in my life and I love the time I can spend with them just hanging out.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a small child my parents were catholic although attended seldom. When I was about 7 my mother had an overwhelming desire to find a church that answered all her questions. So when I was 8 the Mormon missionaries knocked on our door. We found that they had all the answers to our questions and a few weeks later my parents along with me were baptized. Although I was only eight I was able to recognize the good warm feelings that the spirit brings and I felt happy to be in the Lord's church. As I grew up in the church and attended the youth programs my testimony grew as I participated in the gospel. I always wanted to become like those missionaries who had taught me the gospel and so I wanted to become a missionary myself. When I turned 19 I served a full time mission for the church and that is when my testimony solidified. I was able to see the great change and growth that had happened to me, in others. As I have faced the challenges of life, having cancer and adopting our children I have seen the hand of the Lord work in my life. I recognize his love for me and the growth in me has come from these trials. My testimony continues to grow everyday as I live the gospel and it becomes a sure witness to me of the divinity of my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true and living church of God on the earth today and that Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the earth, the same Gospel that Christ Himself preached when he lived on the earth over 2000 years ago. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, pres. Thomas S. Monson. These beliefs are what sustains me through my everyday challenges. Knowing that I have a Savior and a Heavenly Father that loves me and desires my happiness and a safe return home to them. I will continue to stand as a witness of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout my life until I am called home to Him.

How I live my faith

I have participated in many different organizations within the church. From our men's organization to the primary children organization. I enjoy most working with the youth, boys ages 11-18. I am very involved in scouting with these boys and I enjoy watching their growth and development as I help them work to achieve their goals in scouting. My oldest son and I visit on a monthly basis, families within our church to watch over and to help these families with any of their needs. Many times through scouting and in the church I have had opportunities to serve in the community doing various service projects and eagle projects. Many of my co workers know that i am Mormon and have inquired about my faith. I answer their questions freely and without reservation. I try to live the standards of the church in all my actions to be a help to those around me.
