Hi I'm Gregory

I'm a Mormon, and proud of it. I grew up in Utah. Many of my family were early pioneers, that came west in the 1800 wagon trains.

About Me

I retired 5 years ago after 30 years in the trucking industry, I started as a driver and then eventually buying the company. We were in the auto transportation part of the industry, we had contracts with many of the major automotive makers to haul their cars from the railhead to the dealers. When I started thinking about retiring my wife wisely said I could retire, but she said I had to find something other than sitting around and watching TV all day. I was starting to think about things to do when a freind talked me into talking the ham radio test. I passed the test and I got my first radio and I was hooked. Ham radio is a great hobby. One thing led to another and I got involved with the ARES part of ham (this is the part that helps government), I found out they needed someone with a CDL to help drive the Sherrifs Mobile Command Vehicle, I started to train on it and now as a volunteer I am one of only 2 people they allow to drive it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, most of my family are members, many of them were very active. I been active most of my life except for a few years when I was younger. When I started to look at the way my life was going I made the decision to change it for the better. I returned to the church and that is where I met my wife of 35 years. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and I have remained active since. I always have been there for my family for girls camps and scouting, and loved every minute of it. Together we have 3 children, 2 girls and a son.

How I live my faith

Besides my voluteering with the Sherrif's Department I have been an active supporter in the Scouting program both for the church and on the Counsel. I have served as a Ward and Stake scoutleader, and I served as the Deputy District Commissioner for the Disrtict. I am Currently serving as the Advancement Committe Chairman. I along with my wife served for 4 years as Housing Coordinators for the Washington Seattle Mission. It was one of the greatest times of our lives, while we were not actually teaching the gospel, it was great to know that what we were doing helped the Missionaries to do their work. I continue to serve the Washington Seattle Mission as the bicycle coordinator. This is my third Mission, and I still love it.
