Hi I'm Amy

I am a wife, a mother, a photographer and I hate to fold clothes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother. My two favorite things to be. I have been blessed with becoming a mother on the same morning as the terrorist attacks on 9/11. I feel like I was so blessed to be able to spend that scary day reflecting on the most important role I had yet taken on in life, that of a Mother. I also feel like the Lord expects that I teach my children to love their Father in Heaven and serve their fellow man like so many heroes that died that morning. I also had a child born at 14 weeks premature. The doctors thought he might not make it in the first few days of his life. I was scared and exhausted and as I lay in bed crying one night the words of a Hymn I had sung all my life came into my mind; "Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand, Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand." I realize God could have chosen to bring my tiny child back to live with Him. But I am grateful everyday, that he let that sweet spirit be a part of my family, not just on this earth, but forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because as a child I learned from my parents how to live the gospel and as a young adult I learned for myself that the gospel is more than just a good idea or a way of living your life. I learned that the gospel, centered on Jesus Christ, brought more good into my life and more peace into my soul than any other thing I had experienced. The gospel is surely a way to know God the Eternal Father and Jesus Christ are real and that we can learn how to grow closer to them as we choose to follow Christ's teachings. I have learn to love the story of Joseph Smith and the beautiful way that he and other pioneers lived and died to bring forth this great work in modern time. I have learned that if you want to know if the gospel is true you can try out its teachings and see for yourself. I have been blessed everyday of my life because of my faith in Jesus Christ and because I can hear the words of modern Prophets and Apostles that teach the words of Christ for our time. I have read the words of the Book of Mormon and have received a witness for myself that it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as a Mother everyday as I gather my children around me in prayer and scripture study. I am grateful for what the gospel has taught me about how to raise strong, faithful children and have loved being a mother every day for 10 years. I also serve with the children at church. Once a month on Sunday I teach a short lesson to the children helping them to understand the gospel and act on their faith. I also serve with the cub scouts in my area. I have been blessed to be able to help prepare pack meetings that teach young boys character traits that bless their lives and others they come in contact with. I enjoy having opportunities to serve with children and see their lives grow and develop as they develop faith in Jesus Christ.
