Hi I'm Chelsea

I'm a full time student, a future missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time student with hopes of becoming an X Ray Tech. My school was VERY difficult to get into. I am blessed that my parents were able to help me with this process. I am about a year into this vigorous Radiography program and am taking an 18 month break smack in the middle of an intense 2 year consecutive Associates program to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was never my plan growing up to serve a mission. I supported those who did, but felt my purpose was to finish school. It was in a class at school that I felt the overwhelming feeling that I NEEDED to serve a mission. The more I pushed the feeling away, the more it pushed back, each time getting stronger. The Lord answers our prayers, sometimes in ways we do not expect. I know it is Heavenly Father's plan for me to serve a mission and bring people the same happiness that I have in my life from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful to be a part of a church that brings such happiness and light to the lives of many.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up a member of this church and have been learning it's teachings all of my life. Even in growing up in the church, there comes a time in everyone's life when you really have to decide what you want for YOURSELF. Even in times of doubt, I saw the happiness and love in the hearts of those around me and knew I was exactly where I needed to be. The Lord has countless times shown me that His church is the only church on earth today that can bring such happiness and blessings to those who live by it. I never had an overwhelming moment where all of a sudden it hit me that the church was true. Little by little, piece by piece, I acquired a testimony of the church's teachings through studying the scriptures, prayer, and living by it's standards. I always realized I was much happier when living the values of the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to do better every day. I try my best to do the things I have been asked to do, by the Lord, by the presidency of the church, and by my local church leaders. I attend my church meetings on Sundays. I attend a mission preparation class at the Institute, which is a building where people who are members of the church and also those who are not can take classes to further educate themselves in the church's teachings. I surround myself with good friends who care about me and look out for me. I participate in church activities and socials. Most importantly, I stay away from situations where living my faith and having high standards would be difficult.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

We as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have been referred to as Mormons because we believe in The Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. It goes hand in hand with the Bible and is therefore a second witness to the truth that Christ lives. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Present Mormons do not practice polygamy. There was a brief period of time in the 1800's where men of the church took more than one wife and cared for more than one family. This practice ended over a hundred years ago. It is not allowed in the church anymore and it has been that way for quite some time. We believe marriage is between one man and one woman. We believe through this union and this union alone we can fulfill our roles here on earth and return to live with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

We can come to know our Heavenly Father through talking to him directly in prayer. We can pray to Him and feel his love and presence in our lives. He loves us and knows each one of us personally. His primary desire is for us to follow his teachings and return to live with him one day. If we pray to him, he will let us know he is there and he can help us through our trials. Show more Show less
