Hi I'm Mark

I grew up in Missouri. I'm a new Dad! I'm in the ARMY. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a brand new Dad to the cutest little girl in the world! I married the most AMAZING woman in the world who was adopted from Korea as a child. I go to college and I'm majoring in Criminal Justice and doing the ROTC program. I love to eat (anything), I love the outdoors, and I love to read! I'm in the ARMY and am so proud to serve my country and protect this great land.

Why I am a Mormon

When i was a kid, i was a Mormon because that was what my parents were. It was not until i was in my teenage years that i started asking God if this was the truth. Through prayer, study, and actually living the teachings of Christ i found out for myself that this was the true church of God! The teachings make sense in my mind but most importantly in my heart. I feel peaceful and happy when i live the standards God wants me to live and i feel his love as i keep the commandments He has given to us in His scriptures.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example to those around me. I try to think, "what would Jesus do if he was in my position right now" and then i try to do it. By being in the military i get to spend time with "the rougher crowd" but they are also some of the most amazing guys ever. A lot of the time they will ask me questions and i get to share my beliefs with them. Also, my wife and i get to teach the youth in our church about the scriptures and Christ life! It is a lot of fun and we love teaching about Christ and his gospel to these bright young kids.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Mark
Mormons believe that our bodies are gifts from God and that we should never put anything in or on them that could harm us. Being in the military, i need to keep my mind and body healthy and strong so that when my country needs me i will be able to perform at my best. God is the same way. If He needs us to do something for Him and we are not able to because we have hurt our bodies by the things we have put into it or have become to addicted to a substance to hear His "still small voice" (1Kings 19:12) then we are abusing His gift to us. By keeping our bodies free of harmful substances (Tobacco, Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, and Illegal Drugs) God has promised to bless us with strength both physical and spiritual. I know this to be true. I have lived it and i have seen the blessings in my military career and family life. Show more Show less
