Hi I'm Gina

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 2 beautiful daughters. One is 15 and the other is 7. I had my first daughter when I was 18 and her father and I got married but it didn't work out. I am a convert. I joined the church when I was 20 yrs. old. I was introduced to the church by my husband. My husband and I have been married for 13 years. I love to travel, read, cook, craft, play games, watch movies and spend time w/my family! I love being a wife and mother! Having a child at 18 was tough but what was even tougher was dealing with the struggles of infertility. I have lost 2 pregnancies and was blessed to have my youngest daughter after numerous attempts of fertility treatments. If I didn't have the help of God and prayer during this time, I'm not sure I would be here today. I love being a member of this church!

Why I am a Mormon

My husband and I worked together before we started dating and he has been a member of the Mormon church all his life. He was one of the few people I had ever known who was Mormon. He was the kindest person I had ever met and there was something about him that was different from any person I knew. I got to know his family and I loved being around them. I wanted to learn more so I asked to come to church with him. The first time I went, I felt things I had never felt before. I was feeling the spirit of God but at the time didn't know that, I just knew it felt good. My husband and his family accepted me, a single mom with a 1 1/2 yr. old daughter. They embraced us both and that is exactly what the members of this church did too. I felt so welcome. Two things that I LOVE about the Mormon church is that leaders of local level do not get paid for their services, it is all voluntary, even the Bishop. The second thing is members are asked to speak in our sacrament meeting, you don't listen to the same person preaching every week! I am the person I am today because of the principles I am taught through the Mormon church.

How I live my faith

Before I was a member, I didn't think much about helping others. Through the lessons taught at church and the many opportunities the church provides, I have learned to be less selfish and give of my time. Through some of the programs of the church like visiting teaching, every member has the opportunity to visit another member and share a spiritual message with them in their home and also make sure that they doing good. It is a great way to make friends! My family and I have also been recipients of such great service! There are also great youth programs that I have been able to serve in. I was not a member as a youth so it has been wonderful to serve in those areas to see what programs my daughters can benefit from. The church emphasizes families and that if you want your kids to know about the gospel, WE as parents must start in the home. We have family home evening every week and that is where we spend time as a family taking turns teaching a gospel centered lesson and playing a game/activity to go along w/ the lesson. We also go to church every Sunday for 3 hours. That is very important to me. Going to church every week helps as a weekly reminder to me to dust myself off and try again the next week and reminds me that I am important and that my Heavenly Father knows me personally. I try my best every day. I am not perfect but by following the guidelines that the church has, it has helped to keep me on the right path.
