Hi I'm Jonathan Kistemann

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California. I am a tremendous Laker/Dodger/Raider fan. I play video games, soccer, basketball, draw, read, watch cartoons and wrestle with my dog. I like Low riders, pit bulls, vw bugs, snakes, spear fishing, camping, guns, comic books, sleeping, and doing absolutely nothing. I enjoy skateboarding, playing guitar, music, movies, learning and above all spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a covert to the Mormon faith. I had a struggle with accepting Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I grew to know the authenticity of the Book of Mormon after reading and praying to know that it was true. Each time I reminisce on the feelings I had when I prayed I get the same special feeling I had when I learned of its truthfulness. The atonement of Jesus Christ is what brought me into the Church. I grew up with a rough crowd in Southern California. I had no direction and no sense of belonging. As I grew closer to God I felt the love of Jesus Christ in my life, I felt all my pain and anguish leave and my burdens lifted. I knew that my Savior Jesus Christ took the pain I once had. While serving a mission in Mexico I grew to know even more that God lives and that he wants each and every one of his Children to return to his presence. I have great hope and anticipation for my family because of his word. I am a Mormon because I know that God has not forsaken us and has called a living prophet to guide us in these last days. I am a Mormon because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that the Book of Mormon is true. I love knowing that I can live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith on a daily basis. I am by no means perfect. However, I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that my imperfections will someday be made perfect through him. My wife and I read the scriptures daily, we pray as a family, sing hymns to our little girl and always attend church. I try to be kind to those around me, not judge others in different circumstances. I make the effort to understand that we are all different and that we have unique upbringings. I try to be the person my Lord would have me be. I love him and know that he loves me in return. I want nothing more than to live with him along side my family some day.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jonathan Kistemann
It is not an obligation for individuals to serve missions. However, I served and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. There is not a day that has passed since I have returned that I have not thought about the mission I served and the amazing lifelong friends I made. They will forever have a place in my heart.
