Hi I'm Julie
I am a wife, mother of two small children and a preschool teacher. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born, grew up, and currently live in Arizona. I attended college in Flagstaff Arizona and earned by degree in Elementary and Special Education. I have been married for five years. I have a four year old girl and a soon to be one year old boy. I teach preschool out of my home. I also studied French in high school and college and have visited France once as a foreign exchange student.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born a member of the church and grew up in a very active family. When I was a teenager I decided that I wanted to find out for myself if the church was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray to find out if it was true. I didn't have a huge miraculous event happen when I prayed I simply felt peace and was filled with the spirit and I knew it was true. Each time I have read the Book of Mormon since, I have followed Moroni's promise in the last chapter of the book and prayed to know if it was true. Each time I have received the answer that this is the true Church. I love that no matter what the question is I can pray to my Father in Heaven and He hears and answers my prayers. I do not have to rely on other people's answers because I can pray and find out for myself. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to this Earth and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint is the only true church on this earth. This knowledge brings me so much joy. I know that through Christ's restored gospel I can be with my family forever. That brings me so much hope and joy!
How I live my faith
I live my faith by attending church each Sunday. We attend three hours of church on Sunday. We start by going to Sacrament Meeting. This is a meeting where each family (or person) comes and listens to members of the congregation who have been selected that week share experiences and teach about Christ and his teachings. During this meeting we have the opportunity to take the sacrament and think about Christ. The sacrament is the most important part of our Sunday worship. After sacrament meeting we split up into Sunday School classes. My husband and I have been called to teach the 14 and 15 year old youth. This is a class where we discuss the scriptures and what they mean to us. I have enjoyed teaching this class because it allows me to study the scriptures and learn. This year we are teaching the New Testament and I have been able to learn so much about the Savior and His life. During the third hour of church I meet with many of the other woman at church and a teacher leads us in discussions about various topics from how to improve our personal devotion to God to how we can better raise our children. There are also classes for the children and youth. I also am able to once a month visit two ladies in my area who have been assigned to me. We sit down and talk and check up on each other. This is called visiting teaching and it allows us as woman to meet the needs of those people around us who may be struggling or need support. I also have two ladies that come and visit me each month to help and support me! My attendance at church and my service as a teacher and visiting teacher has brought me a lot of joy. I know that my Heavenly Father is happy with me when I help others. I also live my faith by following the commandments that the Lord has given us. Following the commandments has brought me a lot of joy in my life.
