Hi I'm Charlene

I am a mother to seven and a grandmother to three. My husband and I have been married 25 years. I love to crochet. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I are parents to seven children. One of which was a former micro preemie born at 28 weeks and weighing just 1 pound 5 ounces, who is now a healthy 11 year-old. We lost our 19 year-old daughter two years ago to a seizure disorder which took her life. Despite the struggles given to us, it has strengthened our marriage and we celebrated 27 years together earlier this year. I love to crochet, read, watch movies, and spend time with my family. I have three adult children, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents instilled in me a belief system that has spanned many generations. However, It wasn't because it was the traditional thing to do, but because it was something I knew in my heart to be right. In reading the powerful experiences of my ancestors and their struggles, yet persevering in faith, it gave me the insight on where to turn when my trials became difficult. After all, it worked well for them, so it could work for me too! And it has!

How I live my faith

I am currently a counselor over the women at the stake level in the church. I am able to meet and associate with some fantastic women in the seven wards and two branches in the stake. I visit each of these wards and branch at least twice a year. I also just finished coordinating a blood drive, food drive, and road clean up in my community. I do not see myself as a leader, so the past few years doing just that has been of stretching and growing to do things that I never thought possible.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Charlene
Our family gathers together every morning at 6 am and we read the scriptures together. This has helped our children learn to read and also to get a jump start to their day to help them recognize the joy, hope and faith that enters their lives on a daily basis. We challenge our children to not only read the scriptures, but bring up points of discussion. This helps us all to apply the scriptures to our own lives and desire to be more like Jesus Christ.
