Hi I'm Katie Corley

I'm a wife, a new mother, a photographer, a cub scout leader, a student, I work from home, & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 7 years and recently had our first baby in June, she is my world! I have the amazing opportunity to continue to work from home, so I am able to take care of our baby during the day, which I wouldn't trade for anything. I've always had a fascination with photography, so I have decided to pursue a further education in that field. I already have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and am currently in classes to work on my photography degree. I am also involved in the cub scout program, this is my third year with the wolves. Is it any wonder that I can't seem to find any free time?

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith, both of my parents were raised in LDS families, so I might say that it started as a tradition to be a member of this church. But as I have grown, I can see what a blessing it has been in my life. I always sought out good friendships with people who had similar values and beliefs, so I never felt the peer pressure of the world. Being out in the real world, I have gained a greater testimony of different principles of the gospel. For instance, the Word of Wisdom. Although I was never tempted to partake, I didn't quite understand when people said that living the gospel principles would make one "free" when all I saw were restrictions of things we were told not to do. However, now I can see, and personally know people who have been enslaved to their addictions. I know know people that are enslaved to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes. There are people I know that feel as though they are physically unable to function in the morning unless they have a cup of coffee, and now I truly feel "free" because I do not have to waste my time, money or health! I am free from worry about obtaining lung cancer from smoking, or liver cancer from drinking.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in community activities. I have been a leader in cub scouts for two full years, and have already started my third which gives me the amazing opportunity to reach out to the youth in our surrounding neighborhoods. I also have the opportunity to visit various women in our neighborhood through a service called visiting teaching where a companion and myself go to the homes of three women once a month to visit and share a spiritual message.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Katie Corley
My absolute favorite part about the Mormon faith is our view on families! We believe families can be forever!! I am so blessed to have been born into such an amazing family, and I have the privilege of marrying into such an incredible family, and now with our newborn baby, I am so excited to build my own family here on Earth. We know that God is our Father, and thus we are his children, so the family structure existed in Heaven prior to our coming to Earth, and we know that it will further continue in the life that follows. I am so thrilled for all of the families that I have the privilege of being a part of. Show more Show less
