Hi I'm Chris

I'm a full time engineer and a part time farmer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small farming community in Oregon. I always wanted to be a farmer, but I soon learned that starting a farm with nothing was not an easy task, so I went to college to become an engineer. While at college in Idaho, I met my beautifull wife and we now have four awesome children. After a number of years of hard work, we now also have a small family farm, which I love, and which provides lots of work oportunities for my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into and raised in the LDS faith. I never questioned that it was true, I just believed my parents. When I was around 17 I had a few hurdles in my life that really required me to look at what I professed to believe. It did not take much soul searching for me to understand that I really did believe in the things that my parents taught me. I read the Book of Mormom and knew in my heart that it was true. After learing these the truth for myself, eveything that I see around me seems to reinforce the convictions that I have. I can't help but see God's hand in every aspect of my life. Not that my life is perfect...far from it. I still have hardships, but after they are over, I can generally see how they have shaped me to be a better person.

How I live my faith

One thing that I love about the Mormom Church is that it provides lots of opportunities to serve others. Each month I have the assignment to go visit several people who live close to me to see how they are doing and to find ways to help and serve them. Recently we had a service project to cut and haul firewood for people in our area who need it to heat their houses for the winter. It feels so good to do things for others that they might need some help with. I like to think of Jesus' teachings in Mathew "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Truly, when we are serving others, we are really serving the Lord.
