Hi I'm Kaylene

I'm a wife, a business owner, a part-time student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in beautiful New Zealand and moved to the USA in my mid-20s. Thanks to Mum, I gained a love of music and learned the piano, viola and voice. Most of my working career has been in the office environment, and while I've enjoyed working as an Executive Assistant, I took the challenge to step out on my own. I'm now the owner of a growing photography business and have learned that while the life of an entrepreneur is not easy, it's most satisfying to chase and achieve your dreams. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who leads our family in a kind and gentle manner. He is my strength and my best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Presbyterian and believed in Jesus Christ but felt some of the teachings were a little unclear. When a friend introduced me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I was hesitant initially but while reading the Book of Mormon I discovered a familiar message which spoke peace to my soul. I sought out the missionaries and was baptised in 2003; three years after first learning of the Church. My knowledge of and love for Jesus Christ has deepened since then. What I learned as a child was a good foundation; what I am learning now is the work of a Master.

How I live my faith

I attend Church services every Sunday not just to learn, but to help others learn. Since becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I've had the privilege of teaching children and youth from ages 3 to 15 years - or rather they have taught me; it never fails to amaze me how insightful they can be. I serve on the Home Owners Association board for my community and have had the opportunity to work with organisations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Boy Scouts of America. I am learning that some of the most enjoyable moments in life come while helping others.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes I do. Before I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I sometimes wondered why God stopped talking to us after the end of the Bible. It seemed strange that He wouldn't have a prophet like Moses or Isaiah or Peter to teach us His Word and help us navigate the problems we face in our day. It's comforting to know that I can ask God in prayer and learn for myself that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet through whom God leads us today. Show more Show less
