Hi I'm Karl Marshall

I’m a husband, I’m a father of two wonderful sons, I’m a software engineer, I’m a hobbyist baker, and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 25 years to the girl of my dreams, whom I met in Brazil. She has blessed me with two amazing sons. The first son served a mission as a gardener’s assistant on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah and the second son is currently serving a two year mission in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love baking, developing new dessert recipes, camping, our three Shih Tzu’s and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormons. All sixteen of my Great, Great, Grandparents where converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They all traveled to Utah as pioneers that arrived in Utah between the years 1848 and 1866. Some came with the initial group that first arrived into the Salt Lake valley and another came in one of the handcart companies. Even though I was “born” into the church, it is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet chosen by God to restore His gospel to the earth for the last time. I know that our Heavenly Father speaks to a living Prophet today. I know that we can receive personal revelation from our Heavenly Father to help guide us and our families. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. It is because of what I know and cannot deny that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example of how a Mormon should be. I try to personify the things I learned as a young man in the Boy Scouts, which are delineated in the Scout Law of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. I try and serve others as I would like to be served. I have served in many different positions in the Church. I have served a mission in Brazil. I have worked with the young men in my neighborhood for more than six years trying to teach them that same characteristics that I try and personify. I am currently serving as the President of the men's organization in my neighborhood.
