Hi I'm Debbie

I'm a Mom, Nana, Artist, Survivor, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of two adult children, and a grandmother of one. I love God and my life. I look for the beauty in everyone, and everything. I am a college graduate in Fine arts and Elementary education. I love to draw, paint, teach children and give service to others. In 1994 I had a Cerebral Hemorrhage and stroke. My whole life changed. It was a slow recovery and I basically had to learn everything all over again. So I started my long journey of learning how to walk, talk, read and write again. I don't remember too much of my life before the AVM, but that's OK. I feel so blessed that God spared my life. I did remember the things that matter most. My family, my friends and the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church in 1979. I was in college, but making many poor choices that could affect the rest of my life. The Missionaries came to my door and changed my life. They brought such a strong spirit with them that I couldn't deny the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon and the gospel. Being a member of the church has made me a better person. I am more compassionate, giving and caring.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. I start it with a prayer thanking God for my life and my many blessings. I ask to Him to help me be kind to all I meet. I am always aware of how I treat others and what I can do for them. I belong to a Traumatic Brain Injury support group and help others deal with their "new lives" of someone with a brain injury.
