Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a wife, I have 14 children, I run marathons and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 22 years. My husband and I have 14 children after adopting 2 little boys from Ethiopia. I ran sprints in high school and college but have switched to distance in my married life. Since babies number 11 and 12, I have run 2 marathons with my husband and a half-marathon with my daughter. I have one grand- daughter and a son on a mission in Brazil. I have decided to stick with recreational running and maybe a few more half-marathons. My husband rides motorcycles and I enjoy being the passenger. Our family loves to camp and play and work together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was young. I always wanted a large family. I have always loved babies and children. Outside of school and sports, my time was spent babysitting. As I grew older, I found comfort and wisdom in the teachings of the church and knew that the principles of the gospel would bless my future family and help me be a better mom. I'm a Mormon because I believe the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ to be the words of God and that Heavenly Father has a plan for us and because I want to be with my family forever. I know that the principles of the gospel will help my children navigate their way through life and avoid the evil pitfalls Satan would place before them. I'm a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I am very active in my church. I have served in many capacities. I have taught young children, teenagers and adults. I have served in many music aspects. Right now I teach the 18 months - 3 year old children. I love seeing their smiles and sometimes tears, every Sunday. My family is very heavily involved in our church. I have children in just about every age group. We have a son serving a mission for the church in Brazil and a married daughter having her first baby. I love family and being involved in all they do. I spend much of my time volunteering in the schools. I have been on the PTO board for 15 years now. I still have a preschooler, two when our boys from Ethiopia arrive, so I picture many more years being involved in the schools. I love meeting new people learning from each other.
