Hi I'm Barbara

I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother.

About Me

I enjoy walks with my husband, family gatherings - especially when there is singing, and watching my children raise my grandchildren. I love hugging and enjoying my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a typical Mormon family. I was the second of 10 children. My parents faithfully took us to Church every Sunday, had Family Home Evening every Monday night, and we had daily family scripture reading and family prayers. My parents taught by example the importance of obedience, faithfulness and Christlike service. They lived their religion every day of the week, not just on Sunday. I never questioned my religion because of my parents example and testimony. I loved the Gospel and my own testimony began to grow as I lived the principles I had learned. I had many opportunities to feel the spirit bear testimony to my soul of the truths I was taught. But there comes a time in everyone's life, whether they were raised in the Church or not, where they must establish their own personal relationship with the Lord and receive a witness from the Holy Ghost for themselves, and not just rely on the testimony of parents, friends, leaders or missionaries alone. That time came for me as I was living 2,000 miles away from home. LIfe's challenges were extremely overwhelming. I had been taught the truths of the Gospel from my childhood. I had been taught that I was a child of God and that He loved me and that I was important to Him and that He was there to help me with any problem. I knew all of this and yet I felt so alone. I needed to know more than the truths I had been taught. I had to know for myself if God knew who I was and if I really was important to Him. As I prayed from the depth of my soul, with a humble heart I received that witness for myself. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints truly contains the fulness of Christ's Gospel on the earth today. It provides guidance for us in our day through living Prophets. The Lord loves each of His children and wants us to return to Him. The Gospel contains all the principles and ordinances necessary to allow us to return to His presence.

How I live my faith

My greatest desire is to live my life in such a way that I can become like my Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers me many opportunities to learn how to love and serve others and see them as the Savior sees them. As an adult female member of the Church, I belong to the largest women's organization in the world. One of the purposes of this organization is to offer sisterhood to every woman in the organization by watching over and assisting one another as we go throughout life. Each month I go with another woman to visit a few women in their homes. While there we come to know more about each sister, her interests, her challenges, and her plans for the future. We also learn from those we visit as they share their lives with us. We bring a spiritual message of hope and encouragement. As we go each month we develope comfortable relationships with one another so that when there is a need such as needing help with a new baby, or during an illness, or after a death, or any other challenge, it's easy to be able to give or receive that assistance. Along with watching over one another locally, I also participate in projects that provide items for humanitarian aid both in our community as well as nationwide and worldwide. I have received many opportunities throughout the years to teach and serve. The study, prayer and preparation needed to teach the principles of the Gospel helps me understand and live these principles to a greater degree. The most important way I live my faith is in my efforts to become like my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As I follow His example of loving obedience to the Father, and love and service to others my heart is filled with peace, and my life is filled with joy.
