Hi I'm Walt Wood

I grew up in Idaho Falls, ID, served a full time mission in Rome, I married my high-school sweetheart. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I married my high school sweetheart and we've been married 33 years. We have six children and 12 grandchildren. I am self employed as a custom home builder and remodeler, and find great satisfaction in what I do for a living. From 1976-78 I served a mission in the Rome, Italy mission. Since that time my wife and I have returned to Italy 4 times. The Italians and their culture are of great interest to me as is all of Europe. My wife and I love to go on cruises for vacations and have been on many over the years. We now enjoy taking our children, although we are not brave enought to take grandchildren yet.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a lifelong member of the Church, but had to come by my testimony as does everyone, through person revelation. The Book of Mormon has been the main contributor to my understanding of the restoration of the restoration of the Gospel through Joseph Smith. I read it many times and know that it is inspired scripture. A man could not have written it without devine intervention. My knowledge of the mission of the Savior, Jesus Christ, is still weak, but growing. I have come to understand that only through him are we able to live in the presence of God again. Most of my children have also embraced the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Family, A Proclamation has been a wonderful guide to us as we've all tried to understand God's will in a confusing world.

How I live my faith

I do the best I can to live the teaching of the Savior, but I am human and fall short. My most enjoyable experiences in serving in the Church have been with the youth. I've always felt that I understood them better than their parents. It is them that I see a great future for the Church and the world.
