Hi I'm John

I was raised in Portland Oregon. Now I am a husband, father, physician, skier, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the Portland Oregon area and later attended Brigham Young University. I took a 2 year break in the middle to serve as a missionary in western Ukraine. Upon graduation from BYU found the perfect person to marry and have been blessed with 4 children. I now practice as an Ophthalmologist and am lucky to help many see better. Most of my time is spent with my family but I love to ski and spend time outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church and grew up going to Sunday meetings. While attending BYU I was surrounded with many great examples. Most of the guys around me were going on mission around the world. Growing up a mission was not on my mind. I had to choose which path I would take. I read the Book of Mormon, went to church. Eventually I asked God through prayer if serving a mission was right for me. It was. I knew at that point the path I wanted to be on. I can't imagine where I would be had I not chosen to be a Mormon. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves each of us.

How I live my faith

I choose to live my faith by striving to be a good person every day. Trying to be an example to my children has helped me focus on living a Christ centered life. I enjoy working with the youth. Recently I have been active in the Boy Scouts teaching 11 year old boys the basics of scouting and enjoying a few overnight campouts. Watching them grow over a short period of time has been very fulfilling.
