Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a Mormon and I always have been. I have never had a real best friend who was Mormon.

About Me

I love horses and most other animals, but horses most of all. I have 6 brothers and sisters so I'm used to always having someone to talk to. I'm going to community college right now to get an associate's degree and then I will go to BYU-I to get a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. I love kids and babysit them often. I worked at a ranch and learned that I could never become a veterinarian like I wanted because I can't hurt animals, even if it's to help them. I am so glad that I learned that before I got very far in college. I love hanging out with my best friend and going to the mall. I read and watch tv and do most everything that young adults do.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because my parents are. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Redeemer. I love him and I know that he is my heavenly brother like I know that God is my Heavenly Father. I know that the Book of Mormon was translated by a prophet of God, Joseph Smith, who restored the true church upon the earth. I don't need to see an angel or the golden plates to know that the church is true because I pray about it often and each time I do, I get a huge reassurance from the Holy Spirit that I am doing the right thing. I also know that we have the true priesthood because when I get father's blessings, I feel the spirit. My dad always knows the right things to tell me even when I don't tell him everything I need a blessing about.

How I live my faith

I used to be the president of the Laurels( girls ages 16-18). I tried to set an example for the younger girls so that They would be able to make good choices. I participated in Key Club in high school so that I would be able to serve others in my community. We started a garden to provide food for the resource center in our area. I have made quilts and knitted scarves to donate to those who need them.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Mormons perform baptisms for the dead because Jesus Christ asked us to. Back when He had just left and the apostles were teaching, Paul was teaching the Corinthians to perform baptisms for the dead. We do it still because it is the same church restored. We do it so that those who have died will have a chance at the same things that members of the church right now can have. They deserve a right to be sealed to their families, and be baptized and have the Holy Ghost. They don't have to accept, but those ordinances are there if they want them. Show more Show less
