Hi I'm Dinorah

I'm Guatemalan. I'm a social worker. I'm a wife, mother and friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Guatemala City and I am the oldest of nine children. I went to Brigham Young University where I graduated as a Social Worker. I met a very handsome, intelligent, and kind man. Together we have four wonderful children, who are a gift from Heaven to me. I have had the blessing of being home with my children as they have grown up and now I enjoy the beautiful smiles of my grand-daughter. I like to cook, I love to read, and I like to share with others the things that I have found that help me to be happy. I feel proud of myself! I drove eleven hours by myself to Utah from Arizona last April. I enjoyed driving and listening to inspirational talks and messages. I love to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Yes, I am a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a first generation member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up in a home with so many challenges such as poverty, alcoholism and abuse. My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was ten years old. I saw the changes that the Gospel of Jesus Christ made in my parents' and family's lives. We enjoyed more peace and we learned to change inappropriate behaviors. The changes I saw in my family motivated me to learn more about Christ and His Gospel. I served a mission for the Church in Guatemala, Quetzaltenango. As a missionary I learned to love the Savior more and my gratitude grew more as I witnessed changes in the lives of people that I taught. The Gospel of Jesus Christ answers all our questions and the Holy Ghost testifies to us of all truths. I am grateful that God loves us today just as much as He loved His children at the time of Moses. Today we have a prophet of God who is inspired to guide us in these important, challenging times in history. I am grateful that God loves us so much that he gave His son Jesus Christ, who gave His life for us. Today we can be free from sin and sorrow when we follow Him. I love Joseph Smith, who I see as one of the greatest prophets in these latter days. He saw God and, as the prophets of old, he testified of the true nature of God to men. The scriptures testify to me of God and help me to learn more about Him and His great plan of happiness for me and my family. I am a Mormon! I have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. It helps me to be a better person, a better wife, a better mother, a better grandmother and a better citizen.

How I live my faith

I am active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission. I worked in the temple. I had different responsibilities in different organizations of the church such as: primary teacher, young women's leader, special needs seminary teacher, adult leader and currently I serve with my husband as a youth teacher in the local prison ministry. I am trying to be a true disciple of the Lord, Jesus Christ and am trying to follow His invitation to follow Him. I hope to become like Christ some day. Today, I follow Him by reading the scriptures, praying, going to the temple, and serving my family and others. I know that God has great expectations for me. I am doing my best to live my faith.
