Hi I'm Jill

I'm a Mom, Wife, Sister, Friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in Recreation. I have five sisters, am married, and a Mom of two. I like to hike, play Frisbee, sew, remodel, travel, read mysteries, garden, camp, cook and eat. I am a Jill of all trades master of none.

Why I am a Mormon

The Savior, Jesus Christ's mission has always resonated with me. He came to earth and lived a perfect life. He loved, served and sacrificed his life so we all can return and live with him again. After his crucifixion the apostasy happened and all his apostles were killed. The fullness of his teachings went with them. A young boy, Joseph Smith, was looking for direction. He read in James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God." He did ask and through prayer; a piece at a time he was revealed the fully restored gospel Jesus Christ originally established on the earth. We now have all the things that Christ established on the earth originally like: baptism, the sacrament, prophets, temples. In our temples we are married for time and all eternity. I am so glad that I will have my husband, and two little ones with me and be able to be with my other family as well. Through covenants and correct choices death will not separate us. I have had awesome and difficult times in my life. Through those times I have been able to turn to the Lord through prayer and have many blessings and miracles come into my life. I know that the Lord still speaks to us today through prophets and personal promptings.

How I live my faith

I enjoy running a program of faith building activities with 10-12 year old girls from my congregation. It is fun to see these girls at a pivotal age between being little girls and young women. It is fun to share our faith and beliefs while recreating. I visit a few sisters that live near me and make sure they are well and happy. It is good to be part of a community. I try to do my best to be a good mom, neighbor, wife and friend to all I meet. I think that is what the Savior did and I try to do my best to be like him. I strive to read my scriptures and pray with my Father in Heaven Daily. Once a week our family gathers to spend specific time together. We pray, have a lesson, activity, and treat. It is fun to be able share as family and have time set aside in addition to what comes naturally.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Jill
Our body is something that our creator has made for us. I believe it is important to take care of that gift. Eating and putting healthy things the best that we can is the best way we can take care of it. When you take harmful substances into your body you loose control of your decision-making abilities. I have seen destructive decisions made by people who partake of those substances. They make decisions they wouldn't normally make, or were unable to stop using harmful substances. It has been a priority to be in charge of myself and not be enslaved to substances or habits that hurt my body or alter my decisions-making abilities. That is why I don't drink, smoke or use illegal drugs. Show more Show less
