Hi I'm Ryan Emmett

I'm a Mormon. Married to the woman of my dreams. Together we have four kids. They keep us busy. I love being with them.

About Me

Well... other than being a Mormon, I'm most proud of being a husband and a father. My wife and I have been married over 15 years now. My wife is my best friend and I wish we could find more time to spend together. We are the parents of three girls and one boy, ages 7-12. As a family we are constantly involved in sports. Soccer and Basketball dominate our schedules. I wish my knees could take more basketball, currently I play 2-3 times per week. In the fall I love to be in the woods camping, hunting and shooting. I'd love to golf more but I spend more time at the gym trying to keep the weight off. I love to cook and that is not very good for the waist line. I think that sums me up. O yeah, we love to vacation in Cabo San Lucas.

Why I am a Mormon

Being Mormon is a great experience. From a social perspective, most of my closest friends are Mormon. With those friends I have the opportunity to serve in the church and the community. I feel that service to others brings you closer to God than just about any other act. I guess I wouldn't be Mormon if I hadn't sought to know the truthfulness of this gospel. I have had that opportunity to pray and ask God if the Church of Jesus Christ is true. If the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. If Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. My prayers were answered. Getting an answer about these important questions requires action on my part. That action is me living the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a Mormon. Quite simply, living this way makes me happy and brings peace to my soul.

How I live my faith

Living my faith starts at home. Each morning or evening we read scriptures and pray as a family. Monday evenings we set aside as family time and have what we call Family Home Evening. Sometimes it is a fun activity. Other times we will discuss scriptures or do service as a family. Tuesdays my oldest goes to Youth Group at church. I have the unique opportunity to hold a leadership position in our ward. As part of that position, on Wednesdays I go out and visit members of our local ward and community. Sundays we go to church as a family. Living my faith keeps me busy. We do all of these things in addition to working full time and a slate of other activities not related to our faith. All of these things are a cumulative effort to draw closer to God and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love this church.
