Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in South Dakota. I'm a chemical engineer and a father of two. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and have lived in quite a few places since then. My wife and I have been married for five years and blessed with two wonderful children, a boy age four and a girl age two. I am a chemical engineer by profession and I love to read books, listen to good music, and play sports. I'm working on a MBA degree in my spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so you could say that I grew up in the church. Not many of my friends were members of the church when I was younger, but I lived my beliefs and always felt that the church was true. As I went through high school and college, I felt stonger and stronger about my faith in the church, and I decided when I was 19 years old to go on a full-time mission. I served for two years in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and my faith in Jesus Christ grew immensely during that time. I've grown to love the words in the scriptures, both the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and I know that the teachings found in them are very important for us to follow. As I've grown up, gotten married, and had children, my belief that this is the true church has only become stronger. Attending and serving in church brings my family closer together. I am honored to hold the Priesthood, God's authority given to man to perform ordinances and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that this is His true church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ every day. I read about Christ in the scriptures and listen to teachings of modern-day prophets for guidance in how I should live. I pray every day to my Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, to know what He would have me do. I know that many of my prayers have been answered, and it is a wonderful feeling to know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me and listens to me. I work hard to provide a happy home for my family, and I place a very high priority on spending time with my wife and children. My wife and I were married in an LDS temple. We believe that because we were married there, we are sealed together with our children for time and all eternity. My family and I go to church every Sunday and spend a lot of our spare time serving others as we are asked by our local leaders. We love the feeling we get from helping others and spending time with friends in church activities. Many of the best experiences of my life and deepest friendships have happened because I actively participate in church. Right now, I teach a Sunday School class for thirteen and fourteen year-olds. Teaching youth on Sundays is one of the highlights of my week.
