Hi I'm George D. Ahlquist

I have been a volunteer firefighter and EMT. and High School score keeper. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 68 years old, the father of two girls and two boys and grandfather of 12 and soon to be 13, ranging in age from 16 to 2 months. I'm retired from a major insurance company and I was a volunteer firefighter/EMT with the City of Kirkland. I have been the girls basketball score keeper since 1986 and I also announce the home track meets for Lake Washington High School. I was associated with the Kirkland American Little League as the equipment manager and umpire for several years in the 1980's and 90's. I currently work part time for a local ACE hardware store.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ since I was 9 years old. My mother was a Methodist and my father was an inactive member of the Mormon faith when they married in 1940. My father lost his life while serving in the Army Corp of Engineers in 1943 leaving my mother were two young boys, my brother Clyde who was 20 months old and I was 6 months and my mother was pregnant with my sister. We settled in Magna, UT with my grandmother Ahlquist and as a youngster I attended Primary with my friends. Mom joined the Church in 1951 and in 1952 with 3 Ahlquist kids were baptized. We were somewhat active, but when I was in High School I became a fully active member. In 1969 I married my wife Margaret and since that time we have had callings in the Church at both the Ward and Stake levels.

How I live my faith

I'm a home teacher to both active and inactive members of the Church. I'm am currently the HIgh Priest Group leader in the Totem Lake Ward. I have serve a counselor in a Ward Bishopric, was a seventy and missionary for 8 years in California, North Carolina, Utah and here in Washington. I have served on two High Councils in the Redmond and Kirkland Stakes. I enjoy attending the temple and have done much work for my ancestors as proxy for baptism and sealings.
