Hi I'm Keith Schippers

I am an engineer and live in Washington state. I enjoy reading science fiction and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a professional engineer. I work in the field of fall safety. I have five children. Two of them are from my wife's previous marriage and three are adopted from my brother. I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy books. I have been a member of the church for around 14 years. Everyone was very surprised when I joined the church. All of the people I knew were very surprised when I joined the church many felt I was too intelligent to be fooled by the church. I have never regretted joining the church and my life is much better since joining the church. I like to work on things with my hands. I enjoy working on cars on occasion and am a bit of a jack of all trades. I enjoy learning new things and exploring new areas. I enjoy travelling and seeing new things and feel that where ever you go people are people and deserve the same respect.

Why I am a Mormon

The year before I joined the church, the oldest of my wife's sons tricked me into reading the Book of Mormon. I had attended church on occasion with him and my wife on Mother's Day. After I had been reading the Boof of Mormon for a couple of weeks, the missionaries and the ward Bishop visited out house. The Bishop was a bit uncertain because we had never accepted the missionaries or even our home teacher into the house before. But after several discussions with the missionaries and reading more of the Book of Mormon, I had prayed and recieved inspiration from the Holy Ghost that the LDS church was the true church of Jesus Christ. After I recieved this inspiration and confirmation, the only thing left to do was to get baptized and learn more of what I should be doing.

How I live my faith

I do my best to help those around me. I try to do those things that Jesus Christ taught. I provide for my family as best I can. I pay my tithing because I know that Heavenly Father promises in Malachi that he will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so great the we will not have room to recieve it. I also do my best to attend church each week and take the sacrament. The basics of the gospel are prayer, going to chruch, reading the scriptures and fulfilling your callings. These are the things that keep me going and help me to move ahead each day.
